So VW is toying with the idea of a Beetle Crossover from the news I’ve heard. I think there’s only one way to do it right: suicide doors. Hear me out. So the front doors would be normal doors, but the back would be suicide halves Like the RX-8 and Saturn Ion. I know that’s not immaculate company to be in, but nothing says old school cool like suicide doors. I think it would keep things retro, yet functional. Its definitely better than the funky integrated rear door handles that Nissan used on the Juke and Honda did with the HR-V.

I think a crossover VW bug would be great, a turbo AWD model would probably steal lots of MINI and Fiat sales.

I think it would go more into the Subaru Crosstrek segment. especially if they made a TDI version.

I was just basing it off the picture above, the crosstrek is a little bigger but yeah you're right. I always figured if they offered the crosstrek with an STI drivetrain it would be a hit.

I’d rather they’d just build a new Bus already. Yes, every attempt at a minivan in the US for as long as the world can remember has been a disaster, and that makes a new minivan a hard sell to VW’s board of directors, but remember when they built a concept new Bus? And how great it looked? It would be a minivan, yes, but it would be a minivan that is actually cool, thus eliminating the only negative the minivan has.

Yell yeah it would, or at least a de-tuned WRX, like the Forester XT which I still kinda want. I mean how can you not like a boxy, AWD 225hp wagon.

A cabrio crossover beetle would be awesome.

There are a lot of modded forester XT’s near me. Most are lowered but damn do they look good. One is world rally blue with gold wheels and a really loud exhaust. So nice! I would daily one in a heartbeat.

Price would also be big factor in what it would compete against, and judging, but the standard beetle’s price, I think your right that it would end up competing more with the Fiat , and Mini. Rather then the Subaru which would probably be considerably cheaper.

I think so too. I’ve been lobying for one for a while.

We’re not Nissan. Stop. Best we could do is a dual panel panoramic.

What about Fiat 500C style?

Coupe CUVs... preferably actually sporty.
Turbo, 6-speed, with an aggressively tuned Haldex AWD and 6-8 inches of ground clearance with tires that have some sidewall...
I could actually consider a VW Beetle like that.
But this is not the first time they have teased, and then not delivered, such as the earlier Beetle Dune Concept. (Shai-hulud....)
And the Audi Steppenwolf Concept (more recently revisited as the Crosslane Coupe Concept, and Allroad Shooting Brake E-tron Concept.)

It’s the better option. I’ve always wondered how those stand up to the elements though.

The Dune is in production as we speak. The order guide is already out for it.

Hey, I’m writing this on one of your old posts so as not to draw the attention of the spammer we’ve currently got trolling through our ranks. He seems to be focusing on those who give him attention. First you, then JustWaitingForAMate and some others. So far we’ve banned at least five of his accounts tonight. If you see him, don’t respond or make a post about him (that’s what he wants). Just quietly flag him and we’ll take care of it.
